WHY MATTE?
All prints, whether canvas or fine art paper, come with a matte finish. Why matte? Well, matte prints made for a more natural finish to emphasize the artist's talent. Eliminating the reflection that couples a glossy finish allows for the focus of the piece to be the artwork itself, not the paper nor glare. Even better, matte prints are less susceptible to the odd fingerprint or smudge that can ruin the highest quality gloss print.
WHAT ARE MOUNTS?
Mounts are backgrounds that can provide a "base" for the artwork. While they aren't necessary, mounts offer protection for the print and a certain balance that makes the work an elegant and profession piece of decor. On the other hand, maybe you want a print to go with the music and TV show posters already covering your walls. In that case, the professionals at Pencils & Pine (aka me, a teenager with such posters) would recommend no mount in order to maintain the vibe. Our artwork is printed on high-quality paper, making it capable of surviving on the walls of any teenage bedroom.

WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?
PAPER
You can choose between canvas and fine art paper. Canvas provides a more textured finish and the aesthetic of a painted, unique finish. Plus, it's more durable in humidity. Fine art paper is the traditional, classic method of printing. It can achieve higher resolution than canvas, although each paper type adds it's own personality to a piece of art.
MOUNT
The two mounted options are matboard and masonite, availible for both canvas and fine art paper prints. Matboard is a cost-effective yet high-quality paper product that offers stability and durability for prints. It is a white background approximately 1/8" thick. Masonite is a dark hardwood composite which offers a rigid, secure mounting option perfect for larger prints or those who desire a higher-quality finish.
